I was Promised a Kobold Kaiju

Late September, the full release of Ryoko’s Guide to the Yokai Realms by Loot Tavern occured with a demonstration of its Kaiju mechanics. If you’re unfamiliar with Loot Tavern’s new setting, it adds a new class, a bunch of new species, kung fu fighting mechanics and a bunch of new monsters. The capstone to the setting is the ability to fight Kaiju, a Gargantuan creature who ensures your players will have an epic boss battle. DnD Shorts, the creator, did say that they would release a guide on how to create your own Kaiju with a pseudo-template. He even made a joke about a Kobold Kaiju. Unfortunately, the Kobold Kaiju did not manifest with the release and since I take my Kaiju very seriously, this miscarriage of justice will be corrected by yours truly.

For languages, I put Common Language because I found that removing Common from your game improves it.

Here’s my attempt at a Kaiju Kobold, for everyone’s amusement.

Punpun started his career as an absurd combo from 3rd Edition but his namesake combo has not been exploited in over a decade, and Punpun got tired of not being front and centre. Being large and in charge is how Punpun figures he’ll be able to re-acquire meme status of the Dungeons and Dragons community.

The Stat Block looks different because Kaiju can make insane amounts of punishment. You need to detect and destroy partiular weak points. Otherwise, they can fight effectively forever. Since the Kaiju is a Humanoid, I figure lets go with the traditional weaknesses if an ankle biter were to pick a fight with us.

To defeat a Kaiju, the Chaos Threshold must be dealt in damage. This causes the Kaiju to begin Rampaging, which you can see poor Punpun has the ability to do. While rampaging, the weak spots can then be targeted. Some are going to be more difficult to get to than others. Once every single weak spot has had damage dealt to it equal to its HP, the Kaiju enters its Death Throes. To finish off the massive beast, your players have to deal its Finishing Blow amount of damage in one turn; otherwise, the Kaiju lives on to fight another Round.

Very cool with its guide on how to make Kaiju. I mostly made poor Punpun here as a joke but now I need to figure out a way to introduce him into the Hexcrawl. Knowing my players, they might be able to convince Punpun to put down his puny Flame Bolts and work with them.
